The second mission in Gideon's campaign represents his training in hieromancy by Warden Hixus. Like the first mission of the campaign, it is an introductory duel where the order of cards is predetermined.

The strategy for this mission is fairly simple, like the first: simply play creatures and attack. The Glorious Charges and Lightning Strikes, as well as the opponent playing two flying creatures of their own, add some complexity to the duel, but they don't change the strategy much. Again, you have more creatures in your deck than your opponent, and yours all match or outclass (in the case of Great Hart) theirs.

Kytheon's starting hand consists of one Elite Vanguards, two Glory Seekers, an Oreskos Swiftclaw, an Eagle of the Watch and two Plains. Other than Plains, he draws the following cards on the noted turns (the first additional card is drawn on turn 2, since he goes first): Oreskos Swiftclaw (3), Glorious Charge (4, 8, 12, 14), Eagle of the Watch (5, 16, 17), Great Hart (7, 13), Glory Seeker (10), Elite Vanguard (11).

Hixus plays a land on each turn (except his turns 12, 15 and 17), as well as the following other than lands: a 2/2 (Traveling Philosopher or Glory Seeker) on turns 2, 7, 12 and 15; an Eagle of the Watch on turns 3 and 9; two 2/2 creatures on turn 4; and a Lightning Strike on your turn after his turns 6 and 17.
